With a poster that somehow fuses bat wings to a levitating Om symbol, there is no doubt that Transylvania Calling is run by a happy crew of mavericks with a love for psychedelia. Set high in the VERY powerful and magical forests of Transylvania in Romania and peaking on August’s second full moon, Transylvania Calling’s 2012 edition was a beautiful festival.

Founded in 2004, the Romanian outdoor alternative lifestyle, music and arts festival has changed sites a few times, with this year’s festival set at 800m altitude along a stream. About 1,000 people attended the gathering in “WONDERLAND” and it felt intimate by the end – with creatures from all around the world from Romania, Japan, Israel (counting for at least half the festival), Lithuania, France, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Croatia, Greece, USA, Brazil, the list goes on.

Fire, Water, Wind and Earth all joined in the gathering. Thunder then arrived!

Transylvania Calling’s 2013 edition will be held from August 19 – August 26 2013.
