Located in the mystical beautiful forests of Transylvania, the Romanian psychedelic arts & music festival Transylvania Calling returned to its home for its 7th edition set around August’s full moon. Having attended the festival last year, The Third Eye couldn’t wait to return to Transylvania. The 3 hour journey from Bucharest traverses into the wilderness of Transylvania to the festival location set at over 1,2000m altitude.

Beautiful souls from around the world converged to this event, which assembled around 3,000 people at its peak – from Romania, Israel, Mexico, Sweden, France, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Germany, Australia, etc, etc…

This year saw the addition of a new cultural area – ‘I Am Village’ with a program including workshops (from lucid dreaming to african drumming), talks and films. Artists at the main stage included Tristan, Shkta, Psykovsky, Tron, Atma, Dark Whisper, Braincell and Romanian DJ Styx,  who is also the founder of Transylvania Calling. The opening ceremony was particularly beautiful this year, with pixies and elves emerging from the heart of the forest and a performance by the Japanese creative collective, The Tribal Ninjas. The Tribal Ninjas eletcrified the festival with their incredible fire performances and their hypnotic energy.

This year was blessed with particularly excellent Draculian weather. With the moon rising over her midnight kingdom, thunder shook the earth, lightning fired up the sky, followed by strong, hard and long rains throughout one of the nights. Total Surrender and Transformation with the power of the elements.

The mornings were ethereal, with the sun rising through a halo of mist embraced by the giant oaks and beeches towering above us.
